Eurasian wren. Greek: τρυπoφράχτης. Plimiri, April 2022.
Resident, uncommon. Length 9-10 cm, wingspan 13-17 cm. Sexes similar. Plump body with rounded wings and short tail, usually cocked up. Diverse habitats with bushes, ground cover. Forages busily with jerky movements on ground, in bushes, feeds on insects. Loud complex song with trilling phrases. Territorial male behaviour. Polygamous, male builds several nests for females to choose from, can have up to four females breeding on territory at the same time.
